Diary: Hit or Miss ... Asda's Osbourne link-up

Asda no doubt thought its promotional tie-up with Sharon Osbourne would bag media coverage. But the supermarket's marketers and PROs may not have anticipated that ads featuring Osbourne looking for Asda bargains would generate such negative copy. The Guardian, Daily Mirror, The Daily Telegraph and News of the World all pointed out that her multi-million-dollar lifestyle made her somewhat ill-suited to the job. The Guardian even went so far as to call Osbourne 'a revolting old crone'.
