Diary: Spin Bar opens for thirsty journos ...

ALl those Westminster hacks in need of a swift one after a tough day covering parliamentary debates can now file copy over a pint in Labour's former election campaign HQ.

As part of a £200,000 refit of what is now the grandly titled Lewis Media Centre (LMC), Lewis PR has splurged £50,000 on a bar.

As PRWeek went to press, Wednesday's launch of, ahem, Spin Bar - 'themed to reflect its place in modern history' - was set to attract the great and good from media and politics, LMC marketing manager David Cunningham assured us.

The walls are adorned with pictures of well-known publicists from the past decades, though Cunningham claims only to remember Max Clifford and Maurice Saatchi among them.

'We want to create a place where the media can file stories and have a drink at the same time,' he says.
