Futurebuilders, a government-funded initiative that invests in voluntary sector organisations to develop their capacity to deliver public services, has scrapped Silverstone's former role of public affairs manager.
As a replacement, the organisation has created the role of media relations manager, reporting to Futurebuilders chief executive Richard Gutch.
Gutch said Silverstone resigned to pursue a position with a greater focus on public affairs.
'Our work is mainly media relations and we realised we hadn't got the emphasis of the job quite right,' he added.
The new media relations manager will be expected to raise awareness about how it helps the voluntary sector to grow, win contracts and earn fees from local authorities, Primary Care Trusts and public sector bodies.
