Public Sector: Foreign Office hands travel job to Trimedia

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has handed its £250,000 travel safety campaign to Trimedia Communications - ending Euro RSCG Biss Lancaster's three-year hold on the account.

Trimedia will manage the long-running 'Know Before You Go' campaign for the next 12 months.

It offers advice to those travelling abroad on a range of issues, from how to avoid illness to the importance of travel insurance.

PR work aims to alert the public to information that is available on the FCO website. Recent campaigns have targeted specific groups, such as gap year or career-break travellers, package holidaymakers and business travellers.

Trimedia scooped the account in a four-way pitch against Weber Shandwick, Consolidated Communications and the incumbent (PRWeek, 25 February).

A 'partnership marketing' element of the account, also formerly handled by Biss Lancaster, has been handed to specialist agency Iris, said Central Office of Information PR manager Kate Tonge.

Campaign partners, of which there are more than 220, adopt the FCO's travel safety messages and include companies from the banking, charity, media, trade association, travel and insurance sectors.

Trimedia said in a statement: 'The fundamental difference between Trimedia's approach and that of previous agencies is that it will be an ongoing strategic media campaign and not a project-focused relationship.'
