It will compete against the likes of Bob the Builder-branded products via an Image Wizard campaign.
Holli Ng, marketing assistant for Meccano at Nikko, said: 'We haven't done anything on Meccano since taking it over. Modern Meccano is very stylish and easy to use, and the factory has invested a lot of money in its designs.'
She added: 'We hope to put it at the forefront of people's minds. We want young people to say it's cool.'
