Voluntary Sector: CSV searches for extra volunteers

Community Service Volunteers (CSV) is seeking to boost the number of people taking part in October's Make a Difference Day from last year's 90,000 to more than 100,000 volunteers.

CSV is contacting schools, companies and public sector bodies to encourage them to volunteer time for activities such as regeneration projects and fundraising. It is also 'drip-feeding' stories to journalists, said head of press Jason Tanner.

It is highlighting research on the benefits of employee volunteer schemes, as well as its celebrity endorsement, such as that of Ground Force presenter Kirsty King, who is supporting the campaign.
