Diary: Hit or Miss ... Cherie goes Down Under

Cherie Blair came under fire after barring the UK press from a charity event she spoke at in New Zealand.

The PM's wife, whose £100k fee toppled the amount raised for the Children's Cancer Institute, was attacked for promoting her book The Goldfish Bowl at the event and for referring to the audience as Australians. The Daily Mirror ran the headline 'Down Blunder', while Vanessa Feltz described Cherie's book plugging as 'greedy and grasping' in the Daily Express. 'A spectacular gaffe,' said the Daily Telegraph.
