Diary: Michael Howard talks some sense

This was the week PRWeek finally entered the radar of the Leader of the Opposition, we're reliably informed.

Oh yes, if you ever doubted whether your favourite industry tome was viewed by the upper echelons of Westminster as a 'key opinion former', then think again.

During a visit to the North East on Monday to outline his prison sentencing policy, Michael Howard spotted a recent edition on the desk of Recognition PR founder and Tory campaigner Graham Robb.

Robb, a former spokesman for Howard's predecessor-but-one William Hague, tells us that, upon thumbing through the edition, Howard reflected that it was especially important that the party's 'gatekeepers of opinion are reflected', a reference to Charlie Whelan's column.

Anyhow, Mr Howard, the gatekeeper to a regular weekly treat is our subscriptions department, which is on 020 8606 7569.
