Four to promote PlayStation 2 and PSP games

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has handed Four Communications a remit to promote games launching later this year for its PlayStation 2 and PSP consoles.

Four is charged with preparing a consumer PR strategy, press releases and creative ideas for stunts and events for SCEE’s territories, which include Australasia, the Middle East, the Nordic regions and Europe – excluding the UK.

SCEE is planning to release nine games this year for the PSP, including Gran Turismo 4 and Wipeout Pure, while the games scheduled for release for the PS2 have not yet been disclosed.

Fees are understood to be around £120,000.

Four partner Tim Lewis said: ‘Every game that comes out will have a PR programme behind it.’ Four will work alongside SCEE’s software marketing team.

The PSP launch will be promoted by the SCEE’s in-house teams across its

territories; a launch date has not yet been confirmed.

Sony is using Jackie Cooper PR to promote the UK launch of the PSP (PRWeek, 26 November 2004).

Four secured the brief after a competitive pitch.
