CONSUMER: British Airways has shortlisted five agencies to pitch for its consumer account. They are Fishburn Hedges, Weber Shandwick, Porter Novelli, Stuart Higgins Associates and GCI.

APPOINTMENT: Ogilvy PR Worldwide EMEA chief executive Paul Barber is understood to be considering an approach from Tottenham Hotspur to become the football club’s MD. Barber, a former marketing director at the FA, joined Ogilvy in March.

RESIGNATION: Fleishman-Hillard corporate and business comms director Mary Whenman has resigned. She left last week, saying she was ‘ready for a new challenge’. F-H is looking for her replacement.

TECHNOLOGY: Lewis PR has hired IT Week news editor Mark Street as an associate director. His responsibilities will include strategic consultation on account servicing, specialist research, directing business pitches and leading training courses.

PROPERTY: The UK’s largest property company Land Securities has appointed Blue Rubicon to help promote its Capital Commitment initiative and its developments across London. Capital Commitment plans to create more than £2bn of office, retail and residential accommodation in six years.

PROMOTION: Weber Shandwick has promoted president of European practices and client development Rolf Olsen to the newly created role of president of Continental Europe and international client services.

APPOINTMENT: Cairns & Associates has hired The Communication Group consumer MD Jon Meakin to replace Ann Cunnane. Meakin is replaced at TCG by Sally Hawkins (née Curtis).

CLARIFICATION: Last week we incorrectly stated that Cumbria Investment Agency had hired Weber Shandwick GJW Public Affairs (PRWeek, 26 November). It is in fact working with Cicero Consulting.
