Douglas exits Post Office role

Post Office head of comms Mark Douglas has quit after just four months in the role, it emerged this week.

Douglas told PRWeek his move from the ‘big corporate culture’ of defence and aerospace giant Lockheed Martin as director of comms to the more customer-facing challenges at the Post Office ‘was not a good fit’.

He added that he has set up his own as-yet-unnamed strategic and management consulting business.

Douglas’s main responsibilities were to communicate the launch of financial products through the Post Office’s joint venture with the Bank of Ireland and handle the PR fallout from moves to slash the number of Post Office branches.

Royal Mail group external relations director Paul Budd said it was looking for Douglas’s replacement.
