Games industry targets parents

Computer and video games publishers are set for the first pan-industry effort to educate parents about the age ratings and suitability of their products.

The Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association wants to teach those who influence purchasing decisions about the industry’s self-regulated ratings system.

Deborah Coster, account director at Barrington Harvey, which will handle the campaign from next year, said it was in development before recent media criticism of violent games.
