Meakin exits TCG consumer role

The Communication Group consumer managing director Jon Meakin is to leave the firm after five years.

Meakin’s exit comes just two weeks after TCG chairman Maureen Smith promoted him to the company’s board.

He did not return calls from PRWeek but it is understood that he is to take a job with a rival consumer agency.

Smith said Meakin’s role would pass to Sally Hawkins (née Curtis), who is returning to TCG having left five years ago to relocate to Singapore. She was most recently Fulford PR general manager and rejoins TCG in January, where she will be a group board director.

Prior to Fulford, Hawkins worked as an account director at Weber Shandwick. She returned to the UK in February last year to start a family.

Her return follows H&K director Michael Hayman’s appointment as chief executive of TCG just a year after leaving the company (PRWeek, 12 November).
