Barber departs FCO for H&K post

Hill & Knowlton has hired James Barber from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to join its London public affairs practice as an associate director.

Barber reports to H&K Public Affairs MD Tim Fallon, who said his arrival would ‘help lead potential new work on areas of international and domestic ethical trade and CSR’.

At the FCO, Barber was responsible for dealing with the media with regards to the Ken Bigley hostage situation in his role as senior press officer. He also helped establish the Global Citizenship Unit as part of an ethical foreign policy initiative by then Secretary of State Robin Cook.
