Travelodge hires first comms chief

Hotel chain Travelodge has hired its first director of comms as it prepares to open one new hotel every ten days over the next two years.

Former eBay PR manager Jennie Scott joins as PR budgets are set to double with a 20 per cent increase in marketing spend next year to support the expansion.

Sales and marketing director Guy Parsons said PR agency relationships for the chain of 250 hotels in the UK and Ireland were ‘being reviewed’ – but it has no plans to stage a pitch.

Travelodge’s roster comprises Shine Communications, which has handled consumer PR since June, College Hill for financial PR, Reputation Inc for corporate communications and Mason Williams PR for crisis communications.
