Seal Comms buys up rival Warman

Birmingham PR firm Seal Communications has acquired local rival The Warman Group in a deal that lifts its annual turnover above £3m on fee income of £1.5m.

Seal MD and majority shareholder Steven Dann takes the role of CEO and said the merger will give it the critical mass to compete with larger agencies, with a staff of 30. ‘Birmingham has a lot of smaller consultancies but there hasn’t been any sizable independently owned PR agencies,’ he said.

Dann added that the agencies have complementary experience in the retail, leisure and B2B sectors but said there are no client conflicts.

Warman adds clients such as M6 Toll, The West Midlands Co-op and First Choice Holidays to Seal’s client portfolio, which includes The NEC Group, Punch Taverns, and Tourism Malaysia.

Warman, whose founder Bob Warman takes a minority share and becomes chairman and director, will be absorbed by Seal in December when it moves to new premises.
