DLA appoints duo to beefed-up PR team

International law firm DLA has beefed up its in-house PR team following an expansion of its operations overseas.

The firm took on two new business development executives earlier this month. Gabriella Davila has been hired to handle media relations in the UK and Asia, while Henny Valder has been made responsible for media relations in Continental Europe.

The move, which follows the appointment of assistant to the PR team Ellie Hicks in July, doubles the comms team to four, led by head of media and PR Helen Obi.

DLA has grown from ten offices worldwide in 2002 to 30 and is in talks to merge with US law firm Piper Rudnick, said Obi.

The merger, which is expected to be concluded by the end of the year, would make the combined operation the third-largest law company in the world in terms of income.

DLA is currently the seventh-largest law company in the UK in terms of turnover, which reached £275m in the financial year to April 2004.
