Toy firm Bandai in UK PR review

Bandai, the world’s third largest toy company, plans to revamp its UK PR activity and has held discussions with agencies over a fresh consumer PR contract.

The firm, best known for its boys’ toys ranges such as Thunderbirds, Tamagotchi and Power Rangers, formerly worked with Morello Brand Publicists but it has ceased to work with the agency (formerly The Wright Partnership).

Bandai’s UK marketing team, which is co-ordinating the agency search process, was unavailable for comment. A spokeswoman, however, confirmed that PR agencies had been approached about a potential PR contract.

It is understood a shortlist has already been drawn up and an appointment is expected within weeks. The spokeswoman declined to name agencies in the frame.

Earlier this year in the US, Bandai, which has 38 subsidiaries in 13 countries, revealed plans to introduce an expanded line of Strawberry Shortcake scented dolls.
