Schroders restructures comms as Schlaepfer quits

Asset management giant Schroders has restructured its comms following the departure of head of pan-European PR Andrea Schlaepfer.

The firm has brought its three-strong marketing PR team, responsible for PR around Schroders financial products such as mutual funds, under the direct control of group head of comms Julian Samways, putting former Hill & Knowlton senior associate director Nick Ekholm in the expanded role of head of international PR.

Samways told PRWeek that Ekholm, who joined Schroders last month, would head the marketing PR team and also take on a co-ordinating role for international PR in Asia and North America.

Samways insisted that the change would not affect the role of Schroders group marketing director Robert Higginbottom, to whom the marketing PR team had reported.

The move would enable Schroders marketing PR PROs, and four corporate comms PROs reporting directly to Samways, to work more closely together, he said.

Since her departure last month, Schlaepfer has set up financial and professional services shop Votive Communications with former Citigate Dewe Rogerson board director Vaughan Andrewartha.

Prior to joining Schroders as European PR manager in 2001, Schlaepfer worked with Andrewartha as a CDR associate director.
