Standard Life nets AAM’s White for top media role

Standard Life has poached Aegon Asset Management UK group PA manager Scott White to head media relations.

White, who reports to director of corporate affairs Gordon Arthur, joins next week as head of group media relations with a priority to handle PR surrounding the life assurer’s preparation for demutualisation.

Arthur said: ‘White’s role is to work on communicating the big corporate issues, for example results and the demutualisation as well as strategic support across the firm.’

White, who will be based at Standard Life’s Edinburgh office, will head a three-strong in-house team and work alongside retained agency Brunswick, as well as PROs across the firm’s divisions, including Standard Life Healthcare, Bank and Investment .

His appointment follows the switch of investment director Amanda Forsyth to the newly created role of investor relations director.

Forsyth also reports to Arthur and has the role of being the main point of contact for Standard Life’s shareholders and bondholders (PRWeek, 4 June).

White leaves AAM after 13 years with the firm, where he originally had a marketing role before switching to PR in 1995.

His current role there has been scrapped, with duties being taken over by director of human resources Ian Tomlinson.
