BWEA kicks off wind farm effort

The British Wind Energy Association (BWEA) this week launched a concerted effort to build up public support for wind farms.

Managed by The Forster Company, the ‘Embrace the Revolution’ campaign includes billboard advertising and a photography exhibition that aims to challenge the perception that wind turbines are ugly and spoil the landscape.

It will also encourage supporters to sign a petition at www.embracewind.co.uk. Celebrities such as Chris Tarrant and Norman Foster have given their support.

The campaign will have a national focus up to the end of this year and Forster will continue to campaign regionally next year via media relations, events and ads.

BWEA hopes to counter the protests of anti-wind farm campaigners, which

include Noel Edmonds.

The Government has a target of generating ten per cent of UK energy from renewable sources by 2010 in line with the Kyoto Agreement.
