Heading a team of three, Morley arrived at the tourism and inward investment body last week from Scottish Enterprise (SE), where he was network PR manager for just five months. His role was scrapped following a restructure in April.
Morley managed SE’s agency contracts with The Big Partnership, TVI, Whitton PR, Beattie Media and Catchline.
At VisitScotland, he reports to head of comms Barbara Clark. He replaces John MacNeil, who has joined Edinburgh-based KD Media as an account director.
As head of comms at the Catholic Church, he dealt with controversial subjects such as paedophile priests before returning to his native Scotland.
Separately, SE has made its corporate comms manager Jane Martin acting director of corporate communications, following Maureen McAlpine’s internal shift to the non-communications role of director of strategy implementation last month.
