Havas reports income increase

Paris: Havas, the French marcoms group that owns Euro RSCG Biss Lancaster, announced a 73 per cent increase in net income in its interim results last week.

The group, which is facing shareholder pressure to review its strategy following its loss of the bidding war for Grey Global to WPP, said net income for the first half of 2004 was £29m, up from £17m for the same period in 2003.

Havas is facing pressure from corporate raider Vincent Bolloré, who has increased his stake in the firm to more than ten per cent.
