Rotherham hunts comms boss

Rotherham Borough Council is on the hunt for a head of corporate comms and marketing, following the departure of the two staff who were previously filling the role in a job share.

Eileen Brooks is to freelance for other local authorities and Carmen O’Toole is to join Channel 4 as communications manager for its regeneration series The Castleford Project.

O’Toole leaves on 24 September and Brooks is to stay until a replacement for the position is found. It is not yet known if the job will be offered as a job share.

The South Yorkshire authority is also set to expand, with plans to boost its communications team by bringing in corporate marketing staff.

Brooks said: ‘We need a corporate marketing department, but plans have not yet been finalised.’ The internal comms manager will also move from human resources into the comms team.

The head of comms will report to assistant chief executive Lee Adams.
