Invensys work for Maitland

Engineering and electronics firm Invensys has hired The Maitland Consultancy to handle financial comms after its five-year relationship with Brunswick ended.

A spokesman for Invensys said Maitland had been engaged on a contract of at least one year but would not comment on the appointment. Incumbent Brunswick declined to pitch.

Maitland chairman Angus Maitland is leading the account and reports to

Invensys senior vice-president of marketing and communications Victoria Scarth.

The move followed a major overhaul of Invensys’s comms last year, which saw the scrapping of its most senior comms role (PRWeek, 29 October 2003).

Invensys investor relations manager Michael Davies said at the time he would not review the relationship with Brunswick.

Invensys was formed in 1999 through a merger between BTR and Siebe.

But the company’s fortunes declined in the years that followed: at one point it posted losses of £3.5bn.

In February this year the company secured a £2.7bn refinancing deal and has succeeded in reducing net debt to £986m.
