UK bosses fail as role models: poll

Britain’s top businessmen and women are failing to establish themselves as role models, according to a recent survey of public opinion.

Nearly a fifth (17 per cent) of respondents to an NOP poll of people’s attitudes to British business figureheads could not name a business person they admired.

While two thirds (63 per cent) of interviewees named Virgin Group chairman Sir Richard Branson, none of the other prominent leaders were mentioned by more than ten per cent.

Body Shop founder Anita Roddick came closest with nine per cent, with easyGroup chairman Stelios Haji-Ioannou languishing at four per cent.

NOP called 1,000 adults from 6 to 8 August for the Lewis PR-supported poll.
