Ad body appoints Mansfield as PRO

The Advertising Association has responded to intense media and regulatory scrutiny of advertising’s effect on obesity rates with the hire of Michael Mansfield as its first dedicated PRO.

Mansfield, who was a director at Scope Communications Management before working as a freelance PR consultant, is the main media contact for the federation of 26 advertising and marketing bodies and its Food Advertising Unit (FAU).

FAU director Jeremy Preston said the industry was ‘looking hard at the many options that could contribute to tackling the problem of increasing incidence of obesity’, adding that it needed to better present its initiatives.
