PeopleSoft began a review of its six-figure PR account last year (PRWeek, 20 November 2003) but delayed the pitch process until after the appointment of Jennifer Griffin as marketing director in February and Rachel Harnden as UK PR manager in June.
Harnden, who formerly ran the Jordan office of Brodeur Worldwide’s Middle East affiliate Spot On PR, said five agencies were in the running for the contract and were on a closed shortlist.
The brief focuses on IT trade and business comms and will not be affected by Oracle’s £4.3bn hostile bid that looms over the company, according to Harden.
The review signals the end of Insight Marketing & Communications’s hold on the account after it declined to repitch.
Insight MD Chris Warham said the agency had survived two reviews during its time with PeopleSoft, which it started working for ten years ago.
