Bankside partners split away to found Abchurch

Bankside Consultants partners Julian Bosdet and Henry Harrison-Topham have quit the small to medium-sized IR specialist shop to set up their own firm.

Abchurch Communications has taken 14 Bankside PROs and up to 30 of the firm’s clients, including drug firm BioProgess, marine-fluid maker Hamworthy and open-cast miner ATH Resources.

Abchurch has also taken control of Bankside’s Leeds office, which has been renamed Abchurch North and will be led by director Sarah Hollins.

Bosdet has taken the role of chief executive at Abchurch with Harrison-Topham as director.

Bosdet said he left Bankside to keep pace with clients and set up a better structure for equity dissemination to staff.

‘At Bankside, a lot of clients could have got bored and we needed to keep up with their growth,’ said Bosdet. ‘There was also no vehicle to give staff equity.’

Bosdet and Harrison-Topham will retain the majority of Abchurch’s equity, with portions parcelled out to other staff and new hires.

Abchurch’s split from Bankside leaves the latter firm with six partners and a further ten PROs.
