Govt HR body hires to boost profile

The Society of Personnel Officers in Government Services (SOCPO) has hired Tribal MPC to raise its profile in the wake of Treasury plans to slash tens of thousands of civil servant jobs.

The agency will highlight the body’s key policies and lobbying priorities. These include ‘supporting change’ as the government moves to enforce efficiency savings as outlined in the Gershon review published this week.

Other priorities include attracting and retaining senior management and improving pay structures across the sector.

Tribal MPC has been charged with spearheading a media campaign to raise the profile of SOCPO across national and trade publications.

Key media include local government titles the Municipal Journal and LGC along with Public Finance and The Guardian newspaper’s Society section.

SOCPO president Alan Warner said the body had ‘much to offer in terms of new thinking and best practice’.
