Hull sets up body to promote area

Hull City Council has joined forces with marketing partnership Hull Cityimage and East Riding of Yorkshire Council to create a Destination Management Organisation (DMO) to promote the region to visitors, investors and students.

The triumvirate organised a promotional day at Whitehall last week featuring two events – a breakfast to debate inward investment and a parliamentary reception hosted by Hull’s three MPs, including deputy PM John Prescott.

A spokeswoman said: ‘People do not know anything about the region or its potential. Hull is an urban centre surrounded by East Riding, so it makes sense to package them up together.’
