Woodford left support services giant Serco in January and has joined BPC&F as a director, reporting to managing director Tim Ryan. He was replaced at Serco in April by former British Gas director of corporate communications Dominic Cheetham.
Ryan said that Woodford would work across the whole range of BPC&F clients, which include Imperial Tobacco, Standard Chartered and Friends Provident.
‘I have worked with [Chime deputy chairman] Piers Pottinger while at Morgan Grenfell and also at NatWest,’ said Woodford. ‘Working for an agency is a new challenge.’
Woodford began his career as a journalist in the mid-1980s for the Bristol Evening Post and HTV West.
In 1986, he took on the post of director of corporate affairs at Morgan Grenfell, helping to rebuild the investment bank’s public profile following allegations of share price manipulation concerning its client Guinness. He also worked on its rebranding following its acquisition by Deutsche Bank in 1994.
