EDS cuts PR jobs in restructure

Computer outsourcing giant EDS has axed a number of jobs as part of a restructure, following the arrival of marketing and comms chief Malcolm George from Burson-Marseller (PRWeek, 9 April).

Redundancies are said to include UK regional director of EDS global marketing and communications Catherine Greenwood and UK-based PROs Kerry Denman and Catherine Sanders.

The company currently uses Trimedia to operate an outsourced UK press office.

EDS, whose projects include leading the group that operates London Underground’s Oyster Card, was stripped of its £3bn government contract to run the Inland Revenue’s IT network.

George, director of marcoms for the UK, Ireland and Africa, refused to comment.
