Robson, who oversees a comms team of 22, is to handle the car manufacturer’s corporate, media and internal comms, as well as external agency relations. He will also have overall responsibility for corporate events for the firm’s brands, which include Mercedes-Benz, Jeep and Mitsubishi Canter.
The role has been expanded to place more emphasis on raising the firm’s corporate profile as an employer and a global player in the motor industry.
‘My biggest challenge will be to clarify and build DC UK’s profile as a company, rather than just a collection of brands,’ said Robson, who will report to DC UK president and CEO Wilfried Steffan.
He added that there was a possibility he would review the remit of Shine Communications and Freud Communications, which currently work for DC UK brands, but that it was far too early for him to make a decision about any changes.
Robson replaces Geoff Day, who left last December to be Mercedes-Benz US head of comms.
