Agencies prepare to scrap for Ascari PR contract

UK-based supercar manufacturer Ascari is in discussions with PR agencies as it plans to boost consumer awareness of its cars and to woo people to its luxury racing resort in Spain.

The agency search is being co-ordinated by Mobious, a Cheshire and Newcastle-based marketing consultancy retained by Ascari, a company backed by Dutch tycoon Klaas Zwart.

Mobious account director Torfine Bruce confirmed that six PR agencies had been sounded out for the contract and that he planned to hire an agency to handle ‘PR strategy and implementation’ as soon as possible.

The agency will promote the KZ1 car and the higher-spec KZ1R, both of which are due out later this year.

The agency will also promote the Ascari Race Resort, which is touted by the company as the world’s first luxury race circuit.

Located outside the historic Spanish town of Ronda and opened last year, the circuit has been described as incorporating the best of the world’s great race tracks.

Ascari derives its name from 1950s Italian grand-prix legend Alberto Ascari.

Bruce said the agency was likely to be selected from those he had already spoken to.
