Falling fee income in Switzerland

PR agencies in Switzerland have had to bear falling fee income for the second time in succession. According to the market statistics compiled by the Bund der Public Relations Agenturen der Schweiz (BPRA) for the last year, net fee income for agencies fell from 82.7 million Swiss Francs (CHF) in 2002 by 10.7 percent to 73.8 million CHF.

These figures do not take into account the agencies ranked second and fourth, Trimedia and Burson-Marsteller, which did not submit any figures. The number of employees also sank by the same proportion from 373 to 333 people, meaning that turnover per capita remained unchanged at 222,000 CHF.

The long years of dominance by the former Big Five have given way to a more balanced structure. First place on the list has been taken by Farner PR with turnover of 10.4 million CHF. Wirz Corporate had to deal with a significant drop of 46 percent to 5.6 million CHF. (fo)
