Diary: Wooding treads comedy boards

If laughing burns calories, staff at the Marketing Communications Company (MCC) may suddenly get thinner.

MCC account director Paul Wooding is about to make his first appearance as a stand-up comedian on stage at the famous Covent Garden Comedy Store as part of ITV's reality show The Test. The programme has been following Wooding in his quest to become a stand-up comedian for two months.

Wooding, 31, asked the show to help him to fulfil his lifelong dream to become a stand-up by teaching him how to get over his stage fright.

'It's the fear of silence or abuse that's getting the old ticker going,' he says. 'I'm scared witless.'

But Wooding has nothing to fear. He gave PRWeek a sneak preview of his routine and we laughed our heads off.

After he told us to, that is.
