Fryer wins James Maxwell Award

Cardiff University School of Journalism postgraduate James Fryer has won the inaugural James Maxwell Award.

Fryer, who is studying for a diploma in public and media relations, impressed judges with his presentation of a hypothetical PR campaign to boost UK tourism to British citizens.

Three other finalists competed for the award – Regina Yau, Victoria Asare-Archer and Nick Holmes – and were commended by the judges.

Set up in memory of former Ketchum CEO James Maxwell, who died last year at 46, the award is designed to recognise and help young people develop their career in the PR industry.

Fryer takes up a year’s work placement at Ketchum, and will be presented with the accolade at the PRWeek Awards in October.
