Cornwall bids to woo firms to area

Cornwall County Council has secured funding to launch a business media campaign to encourage businesses to relocate to the area, which has the lowest GDP in the UK.

Cornwall Pure Business, a jointly funded project by the council and Objective One partnership, has appointed Bite Communications to handle PR that will target national business press, trade media, and HR and inward investment titles.

Bite director Bruce Dodworth said key business sectors were IT, biotechnology and knowledge management. He added that the area was particularly attractive to entrepreneurs and those who ‘value creativity’ in business.

Cornwall Pure Business will host a launch event in May to kick-start its advertising, direct marketing and PR activity that will explain the lifestyle benefits of Cornwall and its infrastructure.
