Connect to push pharmacists’ role

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) has reappointed Connect Public Affairs to run its regional and national public affairs programme following a competitive five-way pitch (PRWeek, 5 March).

Connect PA, whose contract will be reviewed anually during its three-year tenure, aims to raise awareness of the role of pharmacists as supplementary prescribers, thus freeing up the time of NHS staff, with key government officials, local authorities, MPs and Primary Care Trusts.

The agency will also lobby the Government to improve pharmacists’ access to information technology and produce a toolkit to help influence local authorities.

The RPSGB is the regulatory and professional body for all the UK’s 44,000 pharmacists.
