South Wales in community push

South Wales Police is doubling its efforts to improve relations between the force and deprived communities with the creation of seven extra Communities First teams.

The move follows the success of seven existing teams working in depressed areas across the region, which are funded in part by the Welsh Assembly and the EU.

The project will be promoted to the local and trade press in a bid to raise awareness about the teams.

This month, 22 Communities First officers qualified as McDonald’s FAW Trust community football coaches in an effort to develop better relationships with locals by providing football training for young people.
