Jones appointed to NFU Cymru role

The Welsh National Farmers Union has hired Sarah Jones as head of public affairs as it prepares to launch a campaign this summer entitled ‘Thank a Farmer’.

Jones joins NFU Cymru on 15 March from Age Concern Cymru and will report to director Malcolm Thomas.

NFU Cymru is currently lobbying for reform of the Common Agricultural Policy in Wales and will launch a campaign in the summer to encourage Welsh consumers to think about the local farmers who produce the food they buy in supermarkets.

Jones will oversee lobbying activity, media relations, internal comms, website publications and external campaigns. She replaces Leigh Roberts, who has set up PR consultancy Coleman Roberts Communications with former Western Mail farming editor Sheila Coleman.
