Age Concern in Scots cold alert

Age Concern Scotland pre-empted this week’s predicted cold snap with a media relations offensive consisting of advice to older people on keeping warm.

This followed a barrage of media enquiries after cold weather was predicted for Scotland. The charity sent its advisory notice to newspapers and local radio.

Media targeted included the Dunfermline Press, the Aberdeen Press & Journal, The Scotsman and radio station QFM. Age Concern Scotland director Maureen O’Neill said: ‘Too many older people will suffer ill health as a result of cold homes.’
