Although coverage of the supermarket’s instant savings account helped Tesco to second place, a 2.8 per cent increase on Next’s Christmas sales ensured it won more plaudits. The retailer’s shares also reached an all-time high, generating yet more favourable coverage.
Vodafone came third as excitement mounted over its 3G launch. It also benefited from renewed optimism in the telecoms sector after Nokia improved its forecasts.
For the second week, Parmalat had the worst coverage with a score of -188, as the extent of its woes emerged.
