Marie Curie is associating its daffodil emblem with the bicentenary of Wordsworth’s poem Daffodils. The charities aim to attract 150,000 schoolchildren across the UK in a world record attempt to recite the poem in unison on Friday 19 March.
During March, daffodils will be sold by local stores, schools and Marie Curie charity shops. Yellow Pages will give away £5,000 in prizes to the top fundraising schools.
The campaign aims to raise £2m to provide nursing to give terminally ill people the option to stay at home supported by their families.
