Industry mourns loss of Kaposi from brain tumour

Friends and former colleagues of ex-Powergen corporate affairs director Esther Kaposi have paid tribute to her contribution to PR.

Kaposi died shortly before Christmas at the age of 44 after a long battle with a brain tumour.

Former IPR president Simon Lewis, a life-long friend who was responsible for enjoining her to the institute, said: ‘We will miss her enormously, both as a friend and for the contribution she made to the industry.’

Julia Hobsbawm, a friend who became a fellow of the IPR on the same day as Kaposi in 2002, said: ‘Esther was tremendously gifted in a number of fields, and PR was lucky she chose it as her career.’

Kaposi joined the Department of Transport as a graduate trainee in 1981 after graduating from Oxford University, then moved into PR. She is survived by husband Boyd Steemson and daughters Tabitha and Molly.
