Catholic office to start recruitment for comms team

MAYNOOTH, COUNTY KILDARE: Newly appointed Catholic Communications Office (CCO) director of communications Martin Long is to launch a recruitment drive for PROs next week.

Long, who joins on 24 November from the Irish Insurance Federation, where he was PR manager, replaces Father Martin Clarke. Clarke has been recalled to the Archbishop of Dublin as director of comms after completing a six-year secondment with the CCO. Long, who was councillors liaison officer for political party Fianna Fail for two years up to 1997, will recruit to bolster a small comms team. Based in the CCO in Maynooth, County Kildare, Long will work alongside the incumbent comms officer, Brenda Drumm. The CCO is the official press and media wing of the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference, which represents the newly centralised body representing the 26 dioceses covering Ireland.
