NEW DELHI: The Haryana state government forest department has hired Ketchum affiliate Melcole PR to handle communications for its community forestry project. The scheme, which is largely funded by the European Commission, aims to increase forest coverage by teaching local communities to manage renewable forestry and develop woodland.
BANGKOK: The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has received an award from the Asian travel and tourism newspaper TTG Asia for its crisis management campaign during the Sars epidemic. The award ceremony took place on 4 November, and also honoured the Philippine
Department of Tourism and national travel organisations in Southeast Asia.

KARLSRUHE: Bosch has appointed Uta-Micaela Dürig as director of its central publicity/communications division, replacing Frank-Ulrich Breitsprecher, who is retiring at the end of the year. She joins from RWE Solutions, where she was head of corporate marketing and communications.
MADRID: Dell has named Pedro Fernandez de Córdoba as head of communications and marketing for Spain and Portugal. His primary task will be to boost the PC manufacturer’s image in Portugal. He previously headed marketing for software company Siebel Systems in Spain and Portugal.
PALO ALTO, CA: Hewlett Packard has moved Mark Stouse from corporate communications to head communications for the personal
systems group, in the role of senior director of worldwide external communications. He will oversee comms for HP’s consumer products such as PCs and PDAs .
NEW YORK: Porter Novelli has purchased Los Angeles-based FischerHealth to bolster its medical equipment client base. FischerHealth posted $4.7m in revenues in 2002.
