Blackwell’s hires Morello for 125th anniversary year

Academic book retailer Blackwell’s UK has appointed its first external PR agency to oversee its 125th anniversary year in 2004.

Morello has been hired after a three-way pitch for a range of projects to celebrate the book chain’s history. Account director Sarah Stewart heads a four-strong team and reports to Blackwell’s marketing manager Helen Jones.

‘The focus is on the anniversary year, but we have been hired on a year-long retained agreement,’ said Stewart.

The agency has been initially tasked to promote the Blackwell’s established guest- speaker programme, and is currently raising awareness of satirist author and film-maker Michael Moore, who is to appear at the London Palladium on 9 November.

The agency will also oversee the relaunch of the flagship Blackwell’s store in Edinburgh next year.
