Weber Shandwick revamps Square Mile relationship

Weber Shandwick is restructuring its relationship with financial PR practice Weber Shandwick Square Mile, as the firm reviews the roles of practice chairman Tim Jackaman and CEO Susan Ellis.

Square Mile director Mike Kirk has been promoted to MD from January and will report to Weber Shandwick chief executive Colin Byrne.

Kirk said he was working alongside Jackaman and Ellis ‘during a transition period’, while discussions continue over the future roles the pair will have as they reach the end of their earnouts from the sale of Square Mile to BSMG Worldwide.

‘My appointment is putting in a management succession plan so that, if they choose to have a lower lever of involvement in the practice, there will be someone to take the business forward,’ said Kirk.

Kirk will be responsible for 50 staff at Square Mile, working across both the capital markets and financial services divisions of the practice.

Kirk joined Square Mile as director of the financial practice in June (PRWeek, 20 June).
